The term 'make-up' day used to have such a terrible connotation when I was teaching but now that I'm a stay-at-home mom the term has taken on a new meaning.
Yesterday Kaylee went upstairs to get her sister a new shirt and it was taking awhile so Alex went up to see what was going on. I was busy feeding Lily and when I was done I was able to go up and check on them.
Found the girls in the bathroom- with the make up out. I spent a good amount of time upstairs with them as they played and explored. I feel like they were trying to emulate me putting on makeup-which is great, unless I look like Kaylee when I leave the house :)

Waiting For Warmth
Or bath night. The girls live to open anything their little hands can pull, twist, or pop. So I want to get all sorts of bottles for them, spray, squirt, pour, etc. so they can figure out how to use them and explore how the water falls and spreads. I'm thinking so colored water...food coloring or maybe even watered down paint :) can't wait to experiment!!
Cloud Dough
Simple to make- flour and baby oil...and a little smile. I'm not sure who doesn't like the feel of cold flour- maybe Kaylee, she had to have a spoon to mix her cloud dough. The girl were hooked on the word 'mix' which comes out more like 'mii, mii, mii'. I had the best time watching the girls explore this new texture. The texture is so soft and almost comforting. It would be more comforting if it didn't crumble so easily- it is pretty much the consistency of wet sand.
We started with two bowls, two spoons and a clean work space. This it what we ended up with.

Play Together
We love this wooden train- it is by Melissa and Doug and if you want one try looking at HomeGoods they often have great toys! We were lucky enough to get this train from our neighbor, Kim whose kids didn't play with it anymore. The train has found a good home and is played with every day!

Hi. I Know...
I shouldn't be doing this but...."Hi!"
When the girls are caught doing something they most likely shouldn't be doing they turn and look at you and wave with a cute little chirp of a 'hi'. And they know mom and dad can't get mad-they are smart.

A Little Snow
We got about 10 minutes of snow today. It looked like there was lots of snow coming down but I think it mostly had to do with the strong wind we had. Nonetheless the girls were excited! We have been talking about snowmen quite frequently and I think they are interested and eager to figure out what a real life snowman is. So when it started to snow the two were plastered to the window chanting 'snow, snow, snow' which sounds a little more like 'shno'...it is pretty cute. Unfortunately the snow didn't last long and what was here was blown away quickly. Next time we will hopefully be able to take them out to play in the 'shno'.
Half Way To Reality
Greg went back to work today :( we LOVED the extended time at home. The girls would constantly be crawling all over him and asking for him if I happened to wake them from a nap. It was more than adorable.
I was so happy having him here and seeing him and the girls play. It was also nice because he put himself on cleanup duty :) always a plus! But it was kinda wild having so much face time with him-I'm a fan...I guess that it is good since we are married.
And since Greg is at work it seems as though these kids need me to get them up from their nap- gotta run.

My Toy
Finally something of my own. Liliana grabbed ahold of her first toy today- I've been neglectful in giving her the opportunity to grab things other than my finger. She beamed with happiness when she first held on to the toy. It was adorable and made me realize I need to give her more than just one on one holding attention.
28 Degrees
It is 28 degrees outside and Alex is running around the house as naked as a tree in winter. Too bad I just put some lotion on her dry skin, slippery little bugger.

Cut Back
This isn't their first round of pepper eating. It makes momma happy to not have to do so much prep for feeding time at the zoo. Now it seems all I have to do is cut the top off the pepper and slice down the middle and the girls are happy. Though you can see Kaylee wasn't sure of the taste or something.

Christmas Winners
Grandma, lovingly called 'Gugh' at the moment and Ban-pa, which sounds more like 'Baa-pa', got Alex and Kaylee each a ride on toy called the 'Scramble Bug'. They look adorable and the girls love them! The coolest thing about these toys is that the wheels spin 360*- kinda like an IKEA shopping cart. My favorite feature of this toy is that it folds up making it much easier to bring back to the house after a day of play and 3 kids in tow.
Another Christmas winner the little Magna Doodle Santa brought them. It was I'm constant use yesterday. Those and the baby doll strollers my aunt got them. Those girls pushed around Thier bunnies (buppies), puppy dogs and whatever else suited them.
These are only a few of the great successes of Christmas. I am sure I'll be posting more about what the girls have gotten into and what is the toy of the moment.

Could Not Wait
One of our neighbors and I exchanged gifts for Christmas and the girls couldn't wait to get inside to open them :)
An Early Christmas
Our little Liliana has been such a wonderful baby; we are so blessed. Recently the poor thing has had lots of bubbles in her belly causing her to be cranky :( apparently from the age of 6-8 weeks a baby is expected to experience gas pains and liliana was no exception. While we are currently on the **warning bad pun ahead**!tail end of this gas issue we have noticed our little one continuing to smile.
About a week or so ago I was convinced she smiled at me and Alex but couldn't be too sure because it was the same look she gave after she passed some of that gas she had stored up. But now that it is happening more frequently and accompanied with coos I know that she is an official smiler :) I believe her first real smile was flashed towards Alex, no real surprise there. Liliana would often get wide eyed and look pleased when Alex was around ( as long as she was gentle). We are so excited that our little girl is beginning to express emotions other than anger or general unhappiness :)
So in honor of Lily, flash a smile today; you're never too old to practice an old trick :)

What An Amazing Baby
There are many reasons we love our Liliana but one that comes to mind at 4am is this:
She wakes up at 3:30 with little grunts wanting to be fed. So I get up change her feed her and she is currently back in bed peaceful and happy to go back to sleep. The girls were similar in their nighttime behavior, I think that is why we had another so soon :)

A New Napping Buddy
Liliana has joined the ranks...she is an official napping buddy for Ban-pa. I'm not sure who is happier :) and I don't think it matters. Life is wonderful.
Our Small Baking Adventure
Alex was checking out what was in the cabinet; she was apparently hungry. She pulled out a box of Jiffy corn bread mix opened it and then handed it to me while pointing to the picture of the muffins. So....we had to 'bake'.
The girls loved getting the fork in the bowl and mix it all about. Once I put the mix in the pans I told Alex and Kaylee that they had to wait for them to bake and so Alex sat down on the ground to start waiting. It was adorable! Kaylee joined in on the wait and the two just sat there and then started talking to one another and 5 minutes later they got up to play. Eventually they were able to enjoy the fruits (or corn) of their labor.

At The Dentist
I'm here to get my x-rays done. Someone needs a tooth pulled :( but as I'm here in the waiting room and I find it amusing to see 3 fully grown men (average age of 65+) watching Finding Nemo. It is a great movie but not the usual demographic I wouldn't think :)
But here is my little lady patiently waiting for mommy to get her x-ray. The others are with my crazy, loving friend Lisa.
