It's bedtime....really.

So, Greg and I have been listening to the beautiful sound of cries and pleas of help from our lovely girls for an hour now. We are pretty impressed that for a solid hour Kaylee has not stopped for a moment. Alex has been chiming in off and on during this hour, mostly on. Pretty soon it will be time for the girls to eat again and then hopefully a food coma will set in.

Reflecting on these events, I'm thinking the bedtime routine needs some tweaking. So starting tomorrow night, at the 8pm feeding we will feed, burp and go to bed...no time in between and on bath nights we will bathe, feed, burp and bed. Hopefully that will yield a slightly better outcome.

I'll keep you posted on how long the carry on their one sided conversation :)

Oh, Kaylee!

I think Kaylee is fond of doctors, even after what she went through in the NICU. But since she came home on April 22nd she has created a reason for us to take her back to see a doctor 4 times. Lucky us!

The first of the 2 latest visits had us asking the dr. why she had such a wet and raspy breath; to which the doc replied, it is nothing, just milk in her throat. (oh, okay). Mind you this isn't our normal pediatrician and we were on the look out for reflux symptoms.

The 2nd visit came just a week later when Kaylee took to screaming during the middle of her feedings and pushing the bottle away- clearly she was not a happy girl. This time our regular pediatrician was there and she was very helpful. She determined the wet, raspy breath was due to a series of events...Kaylee feeds, milk comes up, she gets mad, screams, irritates some floppy cartilage in her throat and thus creating the wet and raspy breath. To help ease the pain Kaylee now is taking .5ml of peppermint Zantax, 3 times a day---so far it has helped (back to the doctor's on Friday for a follow up)

Can we get frequent flier miles or something?

What a night!

So, I will blame it on the rain, b/c my girls couldn't be so rude as to keep me up from 2am until 6am...could they?! It was again a rainy night and Alex was wide awake after her 2am feeding- yeah for all involved! Luckily for me, I grabbed a nap with Kaylee around midnight and that helped me recharge.

I've been able to snag a few hours of sleep today, and feel pretty good. I think we may venture out into the gloomy day and find ourselves some trouble!

Happy Mother's Day!

Celebrating 4 generations this Mother's day!

It seemed somewhat surreal to celebrate my first Mother's day--I mean I've only been a mom for a month now, and the kids often times don't feel like they belong to me :) I'm sure I'll get used to the idea of being a mom at some point- for now, it is great fun taking care of these girls (whomever they belong to:)

Excuse my absence...

My computer has not been working so no updates have been made since I am using Greg's computer. But soon I hope to have my Mini up and running so more updates are possible.
