Some updates

Alex trying to push up and look around on our bed, which has a memory foam topper...it was kinda tricky but fun!

So here are some updates to my grand plans for raising babies, saving money, and making life a little easier. Well, first goal was to do 'freezer cooking' and after research and prep work, I lost the webpages that held the recipes I wanted to use and I saw back to square 2 of 4. So, rather than taking up more time to prep I decided to create a monthly meal calendar instead. The idea is that at the beginning of the month I print out my calendar and start filling in the meal(s) I am going to cook on a particular day. For July I have made 5 new recipes and they seem to have gone over well...I only missed one item that I had scheduled which was cranberry orange cookies however, I did cookies on days when they were not scheduled so I feel like I did pretty well this month. Have any recipes I should try in August?

Cloth diapers...Alex HATES them. Normally she is a pretty relaxed and happy baby, but boy, put the cloth diapers on that child and cranky! I think the company was sending me cranky pants rather than cloth diapers because that child was not happy wearing those diapers, put her back in a disposable one and she was happy as could be! Kaylee never tried the diapers because the covers were too big for her and by the time I got a cover that was her size Alex had already clearly stated her preference. So, it was worth a try and I guess next baby I just might have to start earlier.

Sleeping thought the night...still happening! :)

Nothing like a good narcotic

aka. Babies

For some reason when you get a baby in your arms or on your chest it is time to check out and take a nap!
Grandpa Neil takes a nap with Kaylee and Greg naps with Alex

Oh That Thumb!

Kaylee does a fine job self soothing with her thumb..but what happens when it falls out of her mouth?

Zoe loves her babies

It is refreshing that Zoe actually appears to like our girls. While she typically does not like little children, I think she has come to realize that Greg and I like these little creatures and every once and awhile they are good for a little snack!

Such a pretty day

The girls and I are about to head outside to hang out near the mailboxes (where all the cool kids gather) and enjoy the beautiful weather and hopefully see the mailman who will be delivering my friends wedding invitation!

Just a Photo update

Here are a few pictures from the past few days.
The last picture is Alex after she was tired of sitting in the Bumbo...too much work to sit up straight some times.

Teaching each other new tricks

The girls are growing and learning so quickly. It seems as though the girls are teaching each other new tricks- new sounds, movements, and facial expressions. One thing Kaylee has pass on is the ways of sucking the thumb.

Cat attack?

No cats here...just Kaylee attacking herself last night. She was pretty upset last night and I suppose during her struggle to find her thumb these scratches came about. Perhaps she needs some gloves?! Even though she had a bad night, she is so happy this morning, thank goodness!

Now I know...

I was always told that closed captions were for those who were hearing impaired...We don't like to think of ourselves as hearing impaired, we are just parents with loud children who would like to watch a TV program every once and awhile.

Neighborly Love

The girls and Ben spent some time together last week. Ben's big sister, Caroline, was a little camera shy, but you can see her hand in the picture trying to calm the babies. She was so good with my girls! Alex and Kaylee can't wait for another play date with Ben and Caroline!

Ice cream anyone?

I like to lick my fists but mom says I'm eating ice cream cones.

Look what I can do!

I finally made it up and I love the way the world looks!

I'm thinking we have a Lefty on our hands

Kaylee has a new love affair with her thumb...and she will only take her left one.

Happy 3 Months!

To celebrate the girls decided they would start something new and exciting....Sleeping through the night! It started last Sunday when they slept from 9:30 until 4:30. By the end of the week they were sleeping until 5:30 AM! It was a wild feeling when Greg and I woke up Friday morning at 5:33 and didn't hear the girls crying, that brief moment of bliss was short lived once panic struck, Are the girls okay?!

And they were, happily sleeping- Alex sprawled out near the front of the crib and Kaylee in her corner, curled up and sucking her thumb.

So, the next morning when 5:30 rolled around waking up was a little easier- the rain was pouring down and the girls were still tired, we fed them and put them back in their crib and we enjoyed the peaceful morning while listening to the rain hit the skylights...Life is good!

I know there will be nights of relapse, but for now I'll take it!

Like Mother Like Daughter

My 'mini-me' sometimes seems a little too similar!

Cloth Diapering

So in an effort to save money more than anything else, I'm trying my hand (or the kids bottoms) at cloth diapering. The adventure starts today. Some of my loving co-workers gave me a months worth of diaper service, so our first delivery was yesterday. 120 diapers + 7 days + 2 diaper covers= fun times ahead. I didn't trust myself to use the cloth diaper overnight so we started this morning with a cloth diaper on Alex. The covers sent are a bit too big, so I am waiting to get the 'newborn' size cover for Kaylee. For now Alex will be my guinea pig.

I'll update on my ever developing cloth diapering skills...so far with the diaper cover it is really simple and doesn't slow me down too much (if I had a diaper cover that fit well it would be much faster). No pins for me, yet.

Put up your Dukes

Grandpa visited the other day and took this video of Kaylee and her "Fists of Fury" as Greg calls them.

We love Owl and Friends

The girls have a bouncy seat that they LOVE! In the video you can see/hear Kaylee talking to her plastic friends, Owl, Mr. Raccoon, and Porcupine. Alex wasn't much on talking during the video- but she surely loves her friends!

Thank you Cousin Leslie!

I LOVE the doggie jingle toy you gave us! I get excited every time mom or dad puts me in the car seat because I know I will be able to look at and hear the little doggie. Thank you for the hours of fun!

Love,
Alexandra

A Little Love

for our littlest one.

As i look at the blog pictures it seems as though Alex has been getting more face time, so here are some pictures of our Kaylee.

I think I know you

The girls are starting to realize that they are not alone. Here, Alex is smiling at Kaylee while she is crying because she does not want to participate in tummy time. Can you feel the love?

Happy July

Alex visits the ocean and seems quite pleased!
