Morning Breakfast

The girls have recently been hooked on cereal for breakfast. I prefer to give them oatmeal, yogurt, or eggs for a morning protein kick but I can't always win. This morning i enjoyed watching Alex pick out her Cheerios one by one and place them ever so carefully carefully on her spoon then eat them. Goofy girl. And kaylee and her usual drink the milk first approach. Except she didn't drink it all. She dumped her cereal and excess milk on her tray and then splashed her milk by slapping it with her hand. both Alex and Kaylee thought it was the funniest thing.

I've got milk to clean up. Yeah.

When It Is Quiet

Playing In The Rain

After a fun play date at our neighbors house the girls decided to play in the rain on our way home.

Surprise Date Morning

After a typical Sunday morning of wrangling kids and shuffling off to 7:30 mass, things changed once we entered our neighborhood and saw grandma's car. The kids excited to hear they had visitors and practically ran out of the car and I was surprised and excited to hear Greg and I would be going out for the morning to a surprise destination.
So, kids were dropped off and we left with in 4 minutes to our surprise destination.
So where are we? Regal Cinema in Fairfax for a 9:30am showing of Hunger Games! Greg had set this surprise up for me and I love it! Hot Chai, Leather seats, giant screen, and a great book coming to life- how could you go wrong?
Oh and when we got here at 9 the theatre wasn't open so we walked to Caribou Coffee for my before mentioned chai. On out way back we saw the doors open and at least 50. People moving into the theater for only one reason...Hunger Games. The ticket lady said there were 8000, yes 8 thousand people who came to the theater yesterday for the movie!

Katniss is about to grace the screen- may the odds ever be in your favor.

Fun Morning

It is only 1:00 and we are tired! This morning I shot out a morning text to my neighbor to see if she wanted to check out a play place called Play N' Learn. She agreed to come with my crazy bunch so off we went.
Play N' Learn is a indoor playground facility. There are about 8 different play sets set up as well as 2 trampolines and some other table games. Basically it is a showroom of fun.

We got there at 10:15 and didn't leave until 12:30. In true Kaylee fashion she walked into the facility and was ready to play! Alex, also true to form, was a little more reserved and watched Kaylee play before she caught the play bug :) then off they went, climbing, sliding, swinging, and in Kaylee's case, jumping (Alex didn't want much to do with the trampoline).
The girls had fun playing and often played without each other- which was pretty interesting. Alex hit a funk halfway though and took a snack break and then jumped right back in to the fun.
There was a large twisted and enclosed slide that the girls found interesting near the end of playtime. They didn't go very fast at first. You were able to see Alex's hands pressing against the side of the slide making her more inch down rather than slide down, but she was as happy as if one would have slid down full speed.
Lily had fun too- you can see her in her carrier in one pic. But she was held often by Kim and myself-she was a happy smiley girl who was as sweet as could be.
We are thinking of making this a go-to spot on hot or rainy days.
On our way home I remembered I had a free iced coffee coupon to Dunking' Donuts which happens to be next to Sweet Frog (a frozen yogurt place) so I asked the girls if they wanted a special surprise (yes, was the answer). So I got my coffee and the girls got yogurt which we took home to enjoy on the front stoop.
Life is good. Fitting that they were wearing their own Life Is Good or "happy boy!" shirts.

Yum! Yum!

It didn't take Lily long to fall in love with food. She did put on 11 pounds in a mere 4 months so it wasn't a big surprise when she never rejected the offer of solid foods. About 3 weeks ago we started her on solids, rice only do far, and she is a fan. Sometimes she annoys me while eating; she blows raspberries right after a spoonful of food. She smiles. She thinks she is funny, and she is.
Today was her first day of a solid only meal. She is getting so big already! Next meal milestones, multiple solid meals a day and other flavors.

Working On My Sitting

Just Drawing

After a little play around the 'hood the girls are doing a little drawing before nap time.

So Liliana...

This is my little note to you.

Dear Liliana,

I have loved you for what seems like forever and you are only 4 months old. Please remember that. You are only 4 months old. There is no reason for you to grow up so quickly, so please stop. Growing teeth, rolling over, and finding your toes are all really cute, but look at yourself- you are cute without all that stuff. So just remember, please stop and stay little.

Love, Mom

Fresh Start

It is spring time and I'm about to embark on something big-scary-and day changing! Can't wait to dive into the fun and share updates :)

I'll keep you waiting.

Just Watching

Sometimes I am just so amazed by what a little child can do. I was just laying next to Liliana and watching her wheels turn. It was impressive to see her thought process play out as she tried to grab her fish toy. Just a few short months ago she was born with the ability to cry, sleep and pee. And now she is reaching, grabbing and chewing on toys. It's pretty fantastic.

What A Day!

On Thursday we started bright and "early" at the park with our good neighbor Kim and her little boy Ben, who the girls affectionately call 'Ben Ben'. We spent 2 hours in the wind and sun playing non stop and the girls were very good at listening to me when I told them not to play in the public litter box aka. The Sand box.

After the park we followed Kim and Ben to a little place called My Gym. An indoor gym for little tykes like ours. There were slides, monkey bars, ladders, trampolines, and Kaylee's favorite the ball pit! It was hard getting kaylee to try anything else. Alex moseyed on around, a little timid at first, but once she found her 'thing' she was as happy as can be...the ladder bridge.
The girls had a great time at My Gum and we are going to try a class with Kim in a week or so. Lily was fairly well behaved but she did get to crying and I don't blame her. She didn't eat too much at the park ( I've noticed she doesn't like to eat outside, or at least when there is wind or a chill to the air) and she was getting tired. But Lily made it through the class and we headed home after an hour of play.

We got home. Ate. Quick play to keep the girls from falling asleep and then packed back up to head to "Gamma's Hows". I got a long overdue haircut and a pedicure while my mom took the girls to the farm to play, eat and yes, of course bathe :) 10 pinkish toes and 5 less inches of hair later I got a little time to visit with my parents.
It was a busy day for us all and Alex was asleep before I made it out of the driveway! I was tired the next day as were the girls- their behavior showed for it ( see FYI posting below)

Enjoy the day!

FYI

In case you didn't know embossing powder stains carpet. Lesson learned.

Cont: Another Morning

Well we got to mixing and thought dry Jiffy Mix would taste fantastic!

**this blogger app isn't fun- the pics are all mixed up :(

Yum! Yum!

She isn't quite sure what to eat- rice, hand or bib. I think it is safe to say that Lily is a pretty good eater. From taking at least 30oz of milk in 5 feedings, to eating 2 Tbl. of rice or more plus milk during one feeding, I'd say she likes food.
I feel like I need to brush up on my new baby feeding skills though. It seemed so effortless with A & K but now I feel like I'm not doing things properly...no one is complaining, but I think I might back blog to see what I did with the girls since they've turned out all right :)

Just Another Morning

Mom was making pancakes and the girls were mixing...and eating.

Crayon Update

Alex is proud of her new crayons! She loves to carry them around the house in a baggie...she shares them well too. When she isn't drawing with them you can find the crayons carefully placed in her Little People house or in one of her shopping carts for safe keeping.

Raspberry Finger

Grandpa and Grandma came home from a visit to FL a week or 2 ago...and I'm just blogging. Whoops.
The conversation going to the airport with the girls was repetitive but fun:
Me: Where are Grandma and Grandpa?
A&K: aa-poor, aa-poor, aa-poor!! (airport)
And the other comments were:
Big cawr. Big cawr. BIIIIG CAAAWR!Fa-why way (fly away)Ai-pain. Ai-pain. PAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIN! (in an almost ear piercing pitch)The trip to the aa-poor was good and they were so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa they were giggling, squeaking, and full of smiles. The girls were in luck because Grandma and Grandpa were staying for dinner! And leave it to Grandpa to find something that will just make the girls as happy as can be- the three of them are just trouble :) This particular night Grandpa introduced the girls to raspberries....on their fingertips. All three were so tickled with themselves putting raspberries on their fingers then trying not to bite their finger. and about 3 weeks later, the girls still enjoy eating the raspberries off their fingers. Today, Kaylee had a raspberry on her tray and looked at me, put a raspberry on and yelled, "Gampa" as she shot her raspberry pointer finger straight up in the air. adorable.

Naaaaaaoooooooo

That is the way Alex likes to say "No" when she really means yes. So, when I asked her if she ate a crayon when she looked like this: (see picture below)She happily responded, "Naaaaaaoooooooo". Riiiiiight, Alex, I see a chunk of blue crayon in your molar.

Hi, blog. It is me, Lily

Momma hasn't posted much about me recently, so I figured I had to take things into my own hands...now that I realize I has hands.
So what's going on with me? Well I'm already a big girl. I'm 4 months and 1 week old and happy as can be. I really like to sleep at night just like my big sisters! I like to nap when they do as well. I figure why be awake without them? It isn't nearly as fun! So, I sleep from about 2:00-4:30 and then from 7:00-7:00. When I wake up in the morning I'm happy as can be. I wake up with a smile and I can't help but chatter- these sounds I can make are pretty cool. Mom tells me I make a pretty good 'raspberry' sound...whatever that is.

My sisters come in and get me in the morning and that is pretty cool. I think they like me. They bring me toys and books during the day too. When my sisters aren't playing with me I might take a little snooze or I'll play with anything I can grab, like moms hair, I can hey a great grip on that stuff! I may even eat-I eat a lot- 5x a day and at least 3 of those times I want 8oz! When I went to for my check up the doctor was impressed with my almost 15 lb frame :) I guess you could call me healthy.

I'm hungry after talking about all the eating I do...I'll be back!

I Can Too!

I needed to put Lily down yesterday while playing at the little park in the neighborhood and well, the swing was the closest thing to set get in and I think she liked it.

It Rained?

They couldn't tell. Yesterday afternoon after grocery shopping the girls bolted for it once I got them out of the car. They were down the street riding their little bikes as fast as their little legs could propel them. Once the bikes ran their course they found...dirt.
