A First

Kaylee does not have much fun during tummy time- she either cries the whole time or she gives up right away and goes to sleep. Alex, on the other hand, enjoys it-most of the time-and today she figured out how to use her noggin' to roll over to her back! I tried to get a video but she was too tired and cranky by that point...tomorrow is another day.

Grandma and Grandpa Neil visited tonight

Alex and Kaylee were good little girls for Grandma and Grandpa tonight. We had a good visit and the girls were even showing off their little smiles and the new sounds they have learned! And Alex proudly showed off her strong muscles!

Don't let them fool you

and as you can tell having little people as your subject matter isn't always easy!

Baby Pictures

I posted a little while ago about my neighbor coming over to take pictures of Alex and Kaylee- and I have finally gotten around to posting some of them. She did a fantastic job and can't wait for another photo session, especially now that the girls are fond of smiling!

Daddy and Alex

One of the best pictures we have to date.
(yes, only one child in this picture--Kaylee was sleeping) :)

It was time

My Verizon cell phone was pretty much as useful as a paperweight on a still day. It would take me about 10 minutes to place a call since my phone would lock itself as I was trying to use it, it wouldn't ring any longer, and the speaker function failed on me weeks ago. So early Thursday morning Greg, the girls and I went out with the crazies and stood in line for our pre-ordered iPhone4's.

We get in line and mall security saw me standing there with the twins and she pulled me out of line so I could wait inside in the air conditioning- really nice I thought. Well, as I was being escorted I got many a glare and one lady who was about 50 people from the front of the line snidely comments, "Oh, so bring your babies to get ahead in line. That is what you have to do huh?" Now, this could have been taken a few different ways and each has its own appropriate response, I think I chose wisely and possibly too nice of one. I stopped my stroller, looked at the woman, cocked my head and said "Well, I'm not cutting in line. I'm sitting inside with my kids, and you will still get your precious phone."

2 bottles of water, a cupcake and donut later (all provided by Apple) Greg and I are happy owners of iPhones. I have been busy finding new Apps and taking pictures of the girls :) The picture on this post is one from my phone.

Happy Father's Day

Today we celebrate Greg's first Father's Day! The girls were really excited to celebrate dad and each made him a card with a flower on the front made from her footprint. The girls also framed dad's favorite outfit from when they were wearing preemie clothes. We thought today would be the perfect day to wear the "I love daddy" onsies!

That is MY pacifier!

We are thinking Kaylee may not be so good at sharing later.

Story Time

Alex thinks the book is funny!

Strong Desire...

Every time I push the stroller in a parking lot I really want to hop on the back of it like a shopping cart. I'm thinking that is a bad idea. :(

What a day!

The girls went to school today and LOVED it! The 6th graders were performing their end of year play so we went for a visit. The girls spent time in the office hanging out and being loved on while I watched the play. Afterwards, more teachers came to see Alex and Kaylee and the girls just were as happy as could be.

Since it was such a nice day the girl and I met some of the teachers out on the playground for recess and some of my students were able to meet the girls. The students were amazing interested and well behaved around the girls-Some of my favorite sound bites from my students:

What are you going to name them?

She has big, beautiful blue eyes, and so do you! She must have your eyes

Are these your babies?

They look different on the outside of you.

You look different. You are small now!

Some days I miss the wisdom of those little ones :) The girls have asked to see the teachers again, so we will see them on Monday for the end of year luncheon.

Can you hear me now?

Yesterday I visited my parents and on my way home I got stopped by every light from Warrenton to Gainsville...Alex was unhappy because she lost her pacifier and that made the stop lights all that more exciting. Just as I was thinking I was in the clear of the Gainsville stop lights, I was 4th in line nothing is stopping me from getting home to feed the girls (I was cutting it close) except for a lovely train! So my kids are hungry, I get stopped by 12 stop lights and a train- not fun. The best part of the trip was when I pulled into the driveway..I unload Kaylee (she is asleep) and go over to get Alex. I open the door and she is just mad crying- and it was so loud that my "neighbor" who lives 7 houses and a open space away from us, heard Alex's cry! My girl has some pipes...Slightly embarrassing, but poor Alex was hungry.

What type of comment is that?

I went to Kohl's the other day to make a return with the girls and attracted the attention of another mom.  This mom had two really cute girls, both with pretty curly hair, probably around the ages of 3 and 5.  We talked a little while, the lady was really nice, my girls were well behaved looking around as much as they can and her little ones were not so much- it was time to move on in the store and the woman decided to ruin the nice conversation by ending it with... "Better you than me".  Do people just assume having twins is a horrible experience?

Rude.

New Look

I figured I would go for a new look on the blog seeing that I'm currently not feeding my belly :)  Life has changed a little, so the blog has as well; the url will stay the same I just gave the site a slight facelift.

Freezer Cooking

So I stopped by to see an old friend today and she was busy with her weekly meal preparation. Every Saturday she goes to the store and buys ingredients she'll need for each meal for the coming week and then goes home and prepares and freezes each dish. I've wanted to try this since did one session at 'Let's Dish', and then again when I was pregnant...so now I've been inspired since someone I know is a practicing 'Freezer' girl.

Now that I'm inspired I'll be spending my time this evening looking for great recipes to freeze; If you know of any food that is great to prep and freeze, let me know!

Kaylee's check up

Kaylee is doing really well in managing her reflux. She's most fussy about it at night, which is also during her most fussy time of the day. The Doc reassured me that around 3 or 3.5 months the evening fussiness should start to taper and I would be left with the reflux fuss.

Our 2 month check up will be on the 16th when the girls are 10 weeks old. I am excited to get Alex weighted, I'm thinking she is going to tip the scales at 10 lbs; we'll see. Kaylee should be in the low 9 lb. range by then...today she weighed in at a cool 8lb 8oz (7 oz in 10 days is pretty good work)

The girls are sleeping now and Greg and I are going to power wash the deck before the next feeding.

It is Official!

I'm taking the year off! My position at school has been filled and I'm excited that my school kids will be in good hands next year. and Really happy that I will be able to hang out with my real kids next year!

Here is to 10 more months of summer! :)

2.5 hours

a long 2.5 hours, but we made it and have recovered. And now on a great routine/schedule...1:00, 5:00, and 9:00 feedings. wash, rinse, repeat.
